Why This Reference Exists
A person trying to understand a notice can face several offices in one courthouse. Frederick Circuit Court handles felony and circuit matters; Frederick/Winchester General District Court handles adult misdemeanor and traffic cases; JDR handles family and juvenile files with stronger privacy limits. The Sheriff serves process but does not replace the issuing court as the source for a case order.
These distinctions are easy to miss because the clerk offices share the Joint Judicial Center at 5 N. Kent Street in Winchester. The building’s shared address does not mean that all records sit at one counter. This reference points readers toward the relevant court, clerk, Sheriff, or public-record request route.

Limits of This Reference
This is a privately operated source of general information, not a court, police office, or government agency. It cannot confirm whether a warrant exists, update a court docket, recall an order, take a payment, arrange a surrender, or provide legal advice. The answer to a personal status question must come from the issuing clerk or a law-enforcement office that can disclose it.
- We do not maintain a warrant database or a list of named individuals.
- We cannot change a court order or accept a bond payment.
- We cannot promise that an online case result reflects current service status.
- We cannot set a hearing, tell a reader what legal choice to make, or promise a particular outcome.
- We do not publish juvenile, sealed, or private case details.
Only the issuing court can confirm whether it has recalled or changed its process. The Sheriff can answer service questions within its disclosure rules.
Search Partner Notice
Some pages include sponsored public-record search widgets operated by outside companies. Those providers set their own prices and data practices. A paid result from an outside service is not an official check of a Frederick County court docket or Sheriff record. For a public court case, use the Virginia Courts links and verify important details with the clerk.
